College Entrance Testing

Every post-secondary school requires some kind of testing for admission or placement. Students planning to continue their education after high school graduation should plan ahead to meet testing requirements and deadlines. Most four year colleges require the ACT or SAT test. (Students who do well on the ACT test generally have followed a "Core Curriculum" consisting of: 4 credits of English, 3 credits of Math, 3 credits of Social Studies, 3 credits of Science, plus 2 years of a single Foreign Language and 1 year of Fine Arts, additional credits in English, Math, Social Studies and Science are encouraged. In addition, students who take the PLAN test as sophomores have scored 1.5 points higher on the ACT than those who have not.) These tests (ACT/SAT) are given several times a year at designated sites in the three state area and around the nation; typically MAHS students take the ACT test on campus at UMM. Registration materials are available online or may be picked up in the MAHS Counseling Center.
